Artists at work

Artists in the making!

This week was art attack week
We have been doing lots of art using both crayon and paint.
The artist we have been studying is Bruce Gray.
Bruce Gray is an American abstract artist.
We are fabulous at creating some of his abstract works of art!!

Successful experiment!!

This week we tried an experiment using pebbles and water.
We were amazed at the results!
The colours went into four segments.
Any scientist out there know why?

International Day

We had Molly from Ireland, Willa from Japan, Charlotte from Japan, Layton from Australia, and loads of Kiwis in the classroom today for our International dress up day.
We have been saying Good morning each day in a different language.
Au Revior

Folk Dancing

We had great fun today with all the Junior classes doing some Folk Dancing.

What we observed.

The shell had completely disappeared around the cooked and the raw egg.

Unfortunately there are down sides to being a cutting edge scientist, as someone found out!!

The Great Egg Experiment

We put a cooked egg and a raw egg into white vinegar.
We predicted what would happen.
"It might hatch," said Willa.

"It might evaporate," said Lucy

"It might take the colour off the shell," said William

What did happen!!

Japanese visitors

On Thursday we had some students from Japan visit our school. They showed us how to eat with chop sticks. They dressed up into a kimono, and they made this box and swan out of origami.

Week 2

This week we have been continuing our unit on Science experiments. Miss Burdett tried lots of really interesting things last week and I can see the children have learnt lots of new scientific words like........

Static electricity and friction!!

This week we tried an experiment using salt water. We placed a cup in a glass bowl full of salt water. Then we covered it with glad wrap.

We wondered what might happen if the bowl was left in the sun for several days.

Some of the children came up with some great ideas.

Term 3

This term we welcome many new children into Room 5. Our numbers have been somewhat reduced with 11 children moving into Mrs Polsons room.

We are all looking forward to a busy term in Room 5.

The day we ate and dressed like Jesus

We had a great day when we dressed up like Jesus and ate food like Jesus would have.
We loved eating the figs, olives bread and grapes.

Catholic schools day

On Catholic schools day we invited friends and family into our classroom for the morning.
We made these neat masks and wrote some instructions on "How to make a mask."

Our cool containers

We made our containers out of reused baked bean and fruit tins.
We used old magazines and wrapping paper to decorate them.

Reuse and recycle, that's us!!!

Mae said, "I am going to put twisties in my container.

Gina said, " I am going to put twisties in my container.

Jessica said, " I am going to put paint brushes in my container.

Here we all are at the end of a busy day in Room 5. As you can see we all love being in Room 5
